Modi arrives in Lucknow for Dussehra

Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on Tuesday to attend the Dussehra celebrations and was received by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Also present at the Chaudhary Charan Singh airport to welcome Modi were Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is also the elected Lok Sabha member from Lucknow, and some state Bharatiya Janata Party leaders. The prime minister spoke briefly with the dignitaries before leaving for Raj Bhavan, an official said.

More than 2,500 police personnel have been deployed for the prime ministerial visit to the state capital to take part in Dusshehra celebrations at Aishbagh. It is the first time that any prime minister is attending in the 70-year-old Ram Leela in the city.
