Modi committed ‘fraud’ on people over black money: Jethmalani

London: Former Union Minister Ram Jethmalani has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “letting down” officers and men of the armed forces on the OROP issue and committing a “fraud” on the people of India on the promise of bringing back black money.

Jethmalani said the promise of One Rank One Pension (OROP) for officers and men of the armed forces was only a loud pledge.

Speaking to journalists here last evening, Jethmalani said Modi pledged during electioneering to bring back the black money which would benefit every citizen but he has so far not kept his word.

“Modi is also guilty of playing a fraud on Indian people on the issue of getting the black money,” he said.

The German government obtained 1,400 names of bank account holders in Switzerland, many of them were Indians, and unconditionally offered to share these with the Indian government.

“Modi has met the German Chancellor twice, so I asked if he has got the names. No answer,” Jethmalani said.

He maintained he is pursuing the matter in the Supreme Court of India.
