Modi govt. threat to country’s secularism: Teesta Setalvad

Modi’s Gujarat Model will now become functional in the entire country and this is gradually changing into national model. Mrs. Teesta Setalvad told this while answering a question posed by the media representatives. Mrs. Teesta Setalvad stressed the need to protect the country from RSS ideology and strengthen secularism because fascist forces are trying to destroy the nation in the name of Hindutva. She informed that as the files of Gujarat carnage victims and related documents went missing, the same thing is happening in the entire country. She revealed that the people acquitted in the Gulbarg Society case were exonerated just to save a single person. She said this during an interactive session on Monday, in which she participated along with Tushar Gandhi, activist and great grandson of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

Mrs. Setalvad said that it was unfortunate that we argued on the meat recovered from Akhalq’s house even after a year of Dadri incident in which a man was beaten to death for allegedly consuming beef. She claimed that saffron forces were determined to destroy the nation and wanted to promote a particular ideology while replacing Gandhian ideology.

Teesta Setalvad urged the Telangana government not to associate itself with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre, and cautioned that it could lead to the party usurping power in the State too. She asserted that though it is the BJP at the Centre, the ruling force behind it is the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Having alliance with it is like supping with the devil, she said. The party could eventually replace you in the State too, she warned TRS.
