Why Modi, Venkaiah changed tune on spl status to AP, wonders Narayana

Reminding that both the Congress and BJP had given clear assurances on special status to Andhra Pradesh, CPI national secretary Dr K Narayana has questioned where they have gone now.

Participating as chief guest at model couples’ meeting here on Sunday, Dr Narayana said then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had given an assurance on special status to Andhra Pradesh in Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu have also stated earlier that they would fulfill the assurances given by Dr Manmohan Singh. But it was surprising that the same Narendra Modi and Venkaiah Naidu have changed their stand and keep on saying that it was not possible to accord special status to the residual Andhra Pradesh State.
