Modi’s pro-Dalits statement is political gimmick: CPI

CPI national secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao praising each other during PM’s visit to Telangana was sign of TRS’ ambitions of sailing with the NDA Government at the Centre.

Speaking to media persons at Maqdoom Bhavan, CPI headquarters here on Wednesday, Suravaram said that at Gajwel meeting Modi praised KCR’s style of governance while at the party meet at the LB Stadium, BJP chief K. Laxman said that there was no development of the State and the CM was making false claims of development. He wondered as to who was correct, either the PM or the BJP chief. He wondered as to how could KCR declared the Modi Government as corruption free. Lalit Modi case, Centre waiving off Green Tribunal’s penalty of Rs 200 crore on Adani Group and many such decisions of the Modi Government show the corruption levels of the Centre. He asked as to why KCR ignored all these cases of corruption.

The CPI leader slammed Modi accusing him of shedding crocodile tears over attacks on Dalits across the country. He said that there has been a spate of attacks on Dalits and minorities across the country but Modi’s concern over this came very late and was aimed at drawing political mileage ahead of the assembly elections across various states. He also slammed the Centre for denying special status to Andhra Pradesh saying that it was trying to escape from its responsibility. (INN)
