Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma today directed the District Collectors to monitor the Harithaharm –the flagship program to expand greenery in the state.
At a video conference from Secretariat, he interacted with the collectors and asked them to see that the saplings planted grow in a proper way. The flagship program “Telanganaku Harithaharm” is to expand green cover to 36 per cent from existing 24 per cent. The Chief Secretary sought to know about the implementation of the program and steps being to protect the saplings planted.
Since the state is witnessing continuous rainfall this season, there is no dearth of waters to the plants to survive at initial stage Rajiv Sharma stated. The Collectors should coordinate with other officials to ensure that the greenery drive is continued to reach the goal at selected places, he said.(NSS)
