Movement to stop defection is the need of the hour: Justice Chandra Kumar

Hyderabad: For sustenance of democracy in Telangana State, the existence of opposition parties is essential. To achieve this objective a joint movement of the political parties and organizations is necessary to stop defections. For the past two years, in the name of “Mission Akarshan”, the ruling party is playing politics which is causing serious dangers to the democratic system. In order to check this danger all the political parties should form a joint forum to struggle for the sustenance of democracy and also to foil the evil designs of defection politics.

These thoughts were expressed by Justice Chandra Kumar while delivering presidential address of the Round Table Conference of political parties held at press club, Somajiguda yesterday.

Congress leader, Mallu Ravi, TDP politburo member, Mr. Pratap Reddy, CPI State Secretary, Chadar Venkat Reddy, CPI State Secretary, Veera Bhadram, Prof. P.L. Vishveshwar Rao (AAP), Mr. Pandu Ranga Rao (Lok Sakta) and leaders of BJP.

Continuing his presidential address, Justice Chandra Kumar said that the membership of the defected MLA or MP should be cancelled. Through defection the political environment which is being created in Telangana will not only damage democratic system but it will also pose a big question mark on the future of political parties.

Mr. Chada Venkat Reddy alleged that TRS is promoting the defection of MLAs and MPs in order to misuse their budgets. Mr. Mallu Ravi lamented that Congress leaders are relinquishing the party in the greed of money and position which is the most unfortunate step.
