Muslim Professional Network (MPN), a Hyderabad based NGO, has strongly condemned the alleged involvement of Hyderabadi Muslim Youth in terrorist activities and their alleged ties with Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).

The alleged activities of these youth are brought disrepute and shame to the community, the MPN said in a press release on Friday.

“Mentoring Muslim youth is the need of the hour. There is so much energy and passion in Muslim youth, which needs to be channelled in the right direction. Unfortunately, the radical elements are exploiting the vacuum and misguiding our youth. It’s a wakeup call for us. At MPN, we are strongly encouraging our members to mentor one youth, be like an elder brother/sister and channel the energy in the right direction. We want Muslim youth to achieve success in life. We want them to compete, join the top companies like Microsoft, Google and Apple and create successful start-ups like Uber, InMobi and Flipkart” say Mohammed Abubakr, President of MPN, ex-Microsoft employee.

He said in the recent sting operation by media outlets, it was shown that politicians and self-acclaimed religious leaders were willing to take money for organizing riots. There is a strong possibility that, terrorism too is being used as a political tool and these misguided youth can potentially be just pawns in the hands of such politicians and self-acclaimed religious leaders. “It is critical for the investigative authorities to conduct impartial enquiry and disclose the details to the public.  Given the past record of arresting innocent Muslim youth and subjecting them to years of torture, there are concerns within the community that needs to be addressed. We are also requesting Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to look into this matter,” he said.

One of the key objectives of MPN is development of the Muslim Youth from both professional and personal point of view. There is lot of work needed in this direction as Muslim Youth is searching for real-life inspiration and is in extreme need of mentoring. MPN, through its members who work at various reputed multinational companies and emerging start-ups has been attempting to mentor Muslim Youth towards the right direction. Obviously, this is a herculean task and looking at the recent events, it’s a reminder that, lot of progress is needed, he said.

“There is strong need for accomplished Muslims, especially those who have risen up in their careers to take time out and speak one-on-one with Muslim youth. Majority of us have got so busy in our life that, we don’t have time to talk to youth, who are looking up to us for inspiration and guidance.  Just 1 hour a week can change the life of the youth” said Khalid, Secretary of MPN.
