Dhaka : Dhaka Police on Monday confirmed retrieving the body of a muezzin (a man who calls Muslims to prayer) from the Jabbu Khanam Mosque in Old Dhaka.
Police were quoted by the Daily Star, as saying that unknown assailants had stabbed 55-year-old Belal Hossain inside the mosque located in the city’s Islampur area.
They said Hossain’s body was found in a pool of blood on the stairs of the mosque, and added that he may have been killed early this morning.
Confirming that Hossain’s body has been taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for a post mortem, police said they are ascertaining the possible motive for the murder. (ANI)
