Mulayam Singh warns government of consequences over rethink on quota

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday warned the central government of the bad consequences if it decides to reconsider the issue of reservation as suggested by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

“You (Government) can’t reconsider the issue of reservation as suggested by RSS chief.

If you reconsider, it will be a blunder,” Mulayam said in the Lok Sabha while participating in the debate on motion of thanks on President’s Address. Mulayam praises Modi on foreign ties He also took on the government over its promises made during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

“Farmers, labourers, students, teachers and intellectuals have been against the government.

This is a serious concern. You made lots of promises during your election campaign but not even a single promise was fulfilled.

You had promised two crore jobs every year. You had promised to bring back black money but nothing happened,” he said. “The countdown of this government has begun,” he added. Mulayam, however, showered some praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts on international front.

“The prime minister has made some efforts on foreign front, which is good but not enough. Rather making good relations with foreign countries, he should try to make them friends,” he said.

He also suggested the union government should maintain good relations at least with alliance partners. “The whole country knows about BJP’s relations with Shiv Sena, the Akali Dal, the PDP. They are all opposed to this government now. Leave us, at least maintain good relations with your allies,” he said.
