Muzaffarnagar riots due to SP govt’s carelessness: Minister

Saharanpur: Union Minister of State for Ministry of Textiles Santosh Gangwar today said the 2013 riots in Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur were the result of “carelessness” of the Samajwadi Party government.

Gangwar alleged that the SP government ministers’ “names are coming” from every place where riots were reported.

He said the state government “did not take these riots seriously” and exhibited “carelessness” in controlling them.

Speaking to reporters today at the residence of BJP MP from Saharanpur, Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma, the Minister said he won’t make any comment on the riots inquiry report unless he reads it completely.

He said the Central government is trying to open a textile factory in Saharanpur for the benefit of the people.

Talking about the Bihar Assembly polls, he expressed confidence that the BJP would form government there post elections even as he refused to make a comment on Ram Vilas Paswan giving ticket to his family members.

“It is his party’s internal matter. He is our alliance partner so I won’t make any comment on him,” he said.
