Beijing, Oct. 6 : Third seed Rafael Nadal defeated local boy Di Wu in straight sets to reach the second round of the China Open on Tuesday.
The 14-time Grand Slam champion claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win over his Chinese opponent Wu in the opening round that lasted one hour and 26 minutes.
Nadal, who has had a disappointing season so far, is looking to bounce back from his latest Grand Slam disappointment and take a step toward confirming his place at November’s ATP World Tour Finals.
Meanwhile, defending champion and world number one Novak Djokovic is currently facing Simone Bolelli of Italy in the opening round. (ANI)
