AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said his government was committed to the welfare of the people and introduced a slew of measures covering food, water, power, fibre grid and knowledge. Properly implementation will ensure the safety of the lives of the people, he added.
In a teleconference with the officials of different departments, Chandrababu Naidu enquired about the preparedness of government machinery for the upcoming Rabi season and instructed them to ensure proper and timely supply of seed, fertilizers and other equipment to farmers. Out of the sanctioned 6.32 lakh farm ponds, only 27,604 have been completed and the works have started for construction of 2.23 lakh farm ponds, the Chief Minister was informed. He observed a couple of lapses in the execution of water conservation works and directed the officials to be more focused and give no way for postponement.
Interlinking of rivers, the increase of ground water table and water conservation works will help eradicate drought from the State, the Chief Minister said, adding that his government has taken up horticulture in 40,000 acres. Naidu asked the officials to show the same amount of interest in the digging of farm ponds. He also asked the officials to strengthen the river banks for the upcoming rainy season. Geo-tagging the identification to the cluster of rivers and real-time monitoring of works should be taken up by the Collectors and the officials at the village level, the Chief Minister said. Naidu also said his government was keen on increasing the green cover across the State. Reforestation programs like tree plantation works at schools, colleges, office spaces should be done on a large scale.
Chandrababu Naidu said, ”If all of us love nature, the environment will take care of us. The government will reward students, NGOs and people belonging to all sections of the society, who took active participation in the water conservation initiatives — Neeru Chettu, Panta Sanjeevani and construction of rainwater harvest pits, said the Chief Minister.
