Naidu hand in glove with sand mafia: YSRCP

In the name of sand policy, Chandrababu Naidu has been covertly helping the sand mafia in plundering the state’s scarce natural resources at their will. There was huge misappropriation of funds in price fixation of sand and also in sand mining which benefitted the ruling party leaders immensely, party senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters here on Thursday.

The price of sand per cubic metre was drastically increased by TDP government in north coastal districts from Rs 40 to Rs 550 per cubic metre and reduced at some other places and in the entire exercise over Rs 3,000 crores should have been the revenue in the words of Chief Minister.

However when it came to accounts, only Rs 850 crores was shown and the rest had been appropriated by the people close to the Government, he said. He urged the State Government to take effective measures in coming to the rescue of the Telugu speaking people in Chennai, which was battered by torrential rains.

Parts of Chittoor and Nellore were also affected and the state should provide effective relief measures, he said. The issue of heavy rains and damage was raised by Party MP, Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy in the Lok Sabha, he added.

Taking strong objection to the arrest of party leaders in Visakhaptnam today, Botsa said ‘the arrest of our party leaders who were on their way to submit a representation to the District Collector highlighting the failures of TDP government in controlling the prices of essential commodities is condemnable. The police had arrested them immediately after they left the party office and took them to different police stations that were far and wide away, which shows the intolerance of TDP government,’ he said.
