Kannur: A case has been registered against two senior naval officers after the recovery of a suicide note of a naval cadet, Gudeppa Sooraj on Saturday. The cadet died two days before the retrieval of the note. According to which the 26-year-old cadet from INA alleged two seniors for harassment.
The police informed that a suicide note was recovered from his room at the academy. Post which a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against both the Navy personnel as per a report of DC.
Sooraj was found in an unconscious and unresponsive condition on the floor of the academic wing around 5:30 pm on Wednesday.
He was then taken to INA Navjivani Hospital at the campus from where he was referred to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, where he reportedly suffered two episodes of cardiac arrest and died on Thursday.
The Southern Naval Command ordered an inquiry into the matter after his death. Meanwhile, Sooraj’s brother has been alleging that the cadet was harassed by his seniors.
Sooraj’s kin also alleged that he was harassed ever since he was readmitted to the Academy in January after a two-year legal battle against naval authorities following his dismissal alleging malpractice in the exam.
He had joined the Navy in 2010 and cleared the officer’s exam in 2013. While he underwent training in the academy, he was dismissed for malpractice in the exam. Later he moved to the Kerala High Court and obtained an order in his favour for resuming his training early this year.
