Naxalites kill two, torch 29 vehicles in Chattisgarh

Kanker (Chattisgarh): Naxalites killed two people and set ablaze as many as 29 vehicles in separate incidents in Chattisgarh on Friday.

In Rajnandgaon district, Maoists killed two villagers, whom they had abducted from from inter-state border with Maharashtra while they were returning to their native Kherketta village.

While at Chargaon mines in Kanker District, Naxalites on Thursday night set ablaze 29 vehicles and fired several rounds of gunshots at security forces.

As per reports, 60-70 armed Naxalites cordoned off at Chargaon mines and set ablaze the vehicles, including three JCBs, two tippers and trucks.

As per reports, panic-gripped villagers fled from their houses.

Maoists have stepped up violence during the last one month in Chhattisgarh, setting ablaze vehicles in tribal Bastar region.

Last night, the rebels poured petrol and set ablaze five vehicles at Gumda village where the work on double line of railways was in progress.

In another incident, Maoists set ablaze a passenger bus on National Highway near Bhopalpattanam in Bijapur district.

Earlier, Maoists had caused extensive damage to 36 vehicles engaged in road construction work on the national highway.

Maoists have been using this tactics to unleash terror and to stall the ongoing road construction activities and other development works in the region.
