Never saw Nayeem nor spoke to him, says Uma Madava Reddy

Hyderabad: In the wake of her name being talked about her links with recently slain Naxalite-turned-gangster Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem of Bhongir, former minister and Telangana TDP senior leader Alimineti Uma Madhava Reddy has refuted the serious allegations and demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao give an answer as the gunning down of the gangster would not have taken place without the knowledge of KCR.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Uma Madhava Reddy said she did not see Nayeem so far and her name being linked with the gangster was highly improper and atrocious. “I demand a judicial inquiry into the Nayeem’s encounter. If I am found guilty, I am ready to go to jail”, she declared. Alleging that the TRS government has vengeance against her, Uma said the ruling party leaders have conspired and making baseless allegations against her to bring disrepute to her family which has a clean image among the people of the district. She also alleged that as her late husband former home minister A Madhava Reddy had a clean image, the TRS leaders were trying to erase his good image among the people.

Uma said the people were watching the conspiracies of the ruling party against her family and they would teach a fitting lesson to the present government. “People know I am a good person with blemish less character and I have no criminal history. Her political rivals’ attempts to bring her name into Nayeem’s activities are atrocious and mischievous. The news reports that her phone number was in the call list of the slain gangster are far from truth, she said, adding that she was using the only one phone number since the days of husband Madhava Reddy. She said her phone calls’ list be examined and make the data public. She also asserted that there was no land telephone in her house at all. “As the ruling party was trying to shield top leaders, it was dragging my family into this issue. I don’t trust SIT investigation into cases against Nayeem and demand judicial inquiry into this. If proved guilty, am ready to go to jail”, she added.

“Our family always served the people and worked for the development of constituency. Our family never involved in real estate business, money lending or in encouraging mafia. The government is deliberately targeting my family. I had security when I was an MLA. The police can inquire the then gunmen whether I had sheltered Nayeem and provided medical treatment to him,” she said.

Her son Sandeep Reddy has pointed out that the names coming to light in the wake of investigation against Nayeem are of those with TRS. Several leaders from TDP and Congress joined the TRS in the presence of Minister Jagadeeshwara Reddy. “There were no land settlements and extortion until 2004 during the TDP regime. After Congress came to power, all the underworld activities began. I ask the Police department to make Nayeem’s diary public. Either the TDP or our family has no connections with Nayeem. We demand judicial inquiry into all the activities since the Naxalite days of Nayeem. We had given TDP B-form to Pasham Srinu, but he lost the election. This happened 10 years ago. Now, we don’t have any relations with him,” said Sandeep Reddy. (NSS)
