New born baby found abandoned by locals

Hyderabad: A newborn baby with the umbilical cord still attached was found deserted, by locals in Mansoorabad colony on this Wednesday.

According to child rights NGO, Balala Hakkula Sangham, the new born was heard crying but when the locals found him, his mother was nowhere to be seen. The locals alerted the Police.

The child was later shifted to Shishu Vihar, a state-run child rescue and protection home, with the help of Child Protection committee.

“The baby has been shifted to Shishu Vihar by the Child Protection Committee of the Women and Child Welfare Department. Meanwhile, the police are enquiring into the case to find out the details of the baby,” President of Balala Hakula Sangham, Achyuta Rao said.

The NGO is upset with the incident. So far 48 cases have been reported since January out of which only 3 children survived.

The NGO stating the act as inhuman said parents instead of abandoning or killing their child should approach the NGO. The NGO has given its contact (Phone: 9866342424), would help to get the child placed in the state run home or any other orphanages, sources reported.
