Several welfare and development schemes are implemented under Minority Welfare Department. A separate Minority Commissionerate was formed in 1993 to monitor it. It was responsible to review implementation of schemes in all minority institutions and release of budget as per requirement. Later the Commissionerate was converted into Directorate but the duties and responsibilities remained same.
Sadly Secretary Minority Welfare issued memo to slash the powers of Director Minority Welfare. This was shocking for all minority institutions as the orders were sheer violation of government orders issued in 1993 and 1996.
It is said that Director Minority Welfare M J Akber taking special interest in effective implementation of schemes sought report on frequent intervals from minority institutions regarding disbursement of budget. He also sought clarification regarding some decisions taken by Minority Finance Corporation. Resented over this Secretary Minority Welfare issues memo on January 18 stating that MFC is an autonomous institution and will work independently. Through this letter Secretary stopped Director Minority Welfare from interfering into the affairs of Minority Finance Corporation which is violation of memo no 7402 issued on February 10, 2013.
