KCR 2

Number of districts in Telangana State will be increased to 24 or 25 by Dasara festival, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has said. The State Government has plans to increase the districts from existing 10 to 24 or 25 for administrative ease and smooth governance, he stated.

The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering at the State Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds here on Thursday. Telangana State, which faced many problems due to lack of requisite officials, will now get adequate number of districts, he vowed. He expressed hope that the new districts will improve standards of living at towns and villages.

Besides, number of mandals will also be increased as part of delimitation. The new districts will come into existence and start functioning from Dasara festival itself, he announced. KG to PG scheme will be launched from this Academic year through 250 residential schools being set up across the State, KCR said. He also said the government is set to achieve 100 per cent literacy in near future. (NSS)
