New trend in Hyderabad, another groom booked for firing at wedding

Hyderabad: In Falaknuma area, a man allegedly firing in the air during his marriage ceremony, Police registered a case similar to the incident in Kulsumpura police limits on Sunday.

According to Times of India, Some local TV channels aired a video showing the bridegroom firing two revolvers a few days back police took action against him.

The groom, mounted on a horse, and draped in wedding sherwani held “revolvers” in both hands and fired in the air as the baraat headed to the marriage hall with processionists dancing and wielding swords on August 22.

Even though the incident took place on September 21, it came to light after the South Zone Task Force police picked up two persons in connection with opening fire in Moghalpura police limits.
Assistant commissioner of police (Falaknuma division) Mohd Abdul Bari said, “We are verifying when the incident happened.”

“We have registered an FIR under relevant sections of Arms Act in the connection with the incident. We are in the process of identifying the bridegroom, who opened fire in the air and will soon catch him,” he said.

He added, as per TV visuals, the bridegroom was holding two revolvers and fired 10 rounds in the air, the ACP said. “Once he is taken into custody, we will interrogate him and ascertain from whom he got the weapons.”

Hyderabad city police South Zone DCP V. Satyanarayana initially played down the incident in the morning and appealed to the public not to panic.

After the video reached more devices and began making news, the police summoned and arrested the groom, 25-year-old Mohammed Mohsin, alias Irfan, a resident of Falaknuma.

Incidentally, Mohsin was booked in a case in 2013 for using dummy guns to threaten a person.
