Nike unveils HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers with ‘adaptive lacing’

New York : American multinational corporation Nike has announced a first shoe of its type designed in a way that ties shoelaces by itself.

The company refers the new feature as ‘adaptive lacing’.

Nike’s designer Tinker Hatfield said the company is working on other innovations that will provide automatic adjustments.

“Innovation at Nike is not about dreaming of tomorrow. It’s about accelerating toward it. We are able to anticipate the needs of athletes because we know them better than anybody. Sometimes, we deliver a reality before others have even begun to imagine it,” Hatfield said.

“Your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten. When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten. Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it is perfect,” said Tiffany Beers, senior innovator, NIKE, Inc.

The shoes called as ‘Nike HyperAdapt 1.0’ is expected to go on sale by the end of this year. (ANI)
