Government has no idea of increasing bus charges and user charges in TSRTC and instead Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has allotted Rs 1000 cr to help the TSRTC to wade out of losses. This was stated by Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy informed to Council during question hour. He also appealed to MLC and MLAs to provide funds to the TSRTC and help it strengthen to offer better transport services to the people.
There is no plan of increasing the charges and burden the people of the state he said while replying to queries posed by Congress members like Shabbir Ali, P Sudhakar Reddy, M Ranga Reddy and A Lalitha and others. Though previous governments enhanced bus charges every year the TRS Government did not do so to avoid burdening the common man. The minister further said that only Rs 1 per 30 km increased for Palle Velugu buses and Rs 2 beyond 30 km distance and 10 per cent on others by the TRS Government. TSRTC is incurring Rs 600 loss, getting Rs 218 cr revenue and bearing Rs 314 cr burden he said adding that though we are taking austerity measures to reduce expenditure, purchase new buses, focus on new routes. KCR gave TSRTC Rs 350 cr for new buses and offered bank guarantee for Rs 500 cr he added. (NSS)
