Have no other interest other than working for betterment of TN: Jayalalithaa

Chennai : Expressing her gratitude towards the people of Tamil Nadu for her historic win, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief J. Jayalalithaa on Thursday said she had no other interest in her life other than working for the betterment of Tamil Nadu.

Addressing a public gathering, Jayalalithaa said, “I intend to express my gratitude in the form of action that I will take after forming a government in the state. I have no other interest in life except working for the people of Tamil Nadu. I will continue to work for the state and will strive for fulfilling promises I have made in the election manifesto.”

“I will be indebted to people of Tamil Nadu for giving us this historic victory,” she added.

This is for the first time since the death of former chief minister M.G. Ramachandra Menon, who is popularly known as MGR, in 1987 that a party will return to power for a consecutive second term in Tamil Nadu.

Jayalalitha’s charisma won her a second term, though her arch rival DMK managed to win more than 70 seats.

AIADMK is leading on 136 seats, while the DMK-Congress combine is leading on 92. (ANI)
