No plan to ban Burqa, though it’s not a part of our culture: Australian politician

Western Australia State – Colin Barnett, an Australian politician has ruled out any attempt to ban Muslims from wearing burqa but said he would prefer “that type of clothing” wasn’t worn in Australia

Senator Pauline Hanson’s renewed call for a ban on the burqa ahead of her visit to Western Australia, where One Nation will be fielding candidates in the March state election, ABC Online‎ News reported.

Hanson used Twitter to vent her concerns about the burka on Tuesday.

“It seems people don’t realize the burqa is not a religious right; it’s an evil tool of oppression and an extreme national security risk,” she said.

“We’re not about to introduce laws into Western Australia to ban the burka,” Barnett said.

“But I think when people come from other countries with other religious beliefs … I would appeal to people not to wear that type of clothing in Australia and as Australian citizens”
