Urdu is the second official language of the state still Osmania University doesn’t have takers for about 100 seats available in M A Urdu. Only 89 applications were received as against 180 seats available in M A Urdu in Osmania University. This shows the lack of interest among young generation regarding Urdu language. If this trend continues Urdu course will be scrapped from Osmania University. This situation is not only unfortunate for Urdu speaking people but university administration should also take measures in this regard.
