Non-mention of Role of Students, Sonia in TSPSC Syllabus Deplored

Stating that Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) is supposed to be  a neutral body, former Minister and Congress senior leader Duddilla Sridhar Babu said that it was unfortunate that there was no mention of role of the AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi, students and peoples’ organizations in the formation of separate Telangana state, in the syllabus of TSPSC Group-II notification.

Sridhar Babu released a book titled ‘Telangana Geography’ written by Dr Anand Gopagoni in memory of former Speaker late Duddilla Sripada Rao on the occasion of Sripada Rao’s  birth anniversary here on Wednesday at Gandhi Bhavan. Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu stated that  separate Telangana state  would not have become a reality without the involvement  of  students and AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi. “But many writers are not mentioning about the role of students, peoples’ unions and Sonia Gandhi in their books on history of Telangana movement. It is unfortunate”, he deplored. It was unfortunate that the TSPSC, which mentioned the role of TRS Party Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao in its syllabus for Group-II and other Group examinations conducted by it, forgot the role of the Congress party and other political parties’ in the Telangana movement. He asked the TSPSC to include the students and Congress party’s role in the formation of Telangana state. He asked the Chief Minister KCR to tell as to what has happened  to  one lakh jobs  assured by him  earlier. He said that he will continue charitable works in the name of his father Sripada Rao even in future.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Telangana Geography book writer Dr Anand stressed the need of introducing the Geography subject in Intermediate and Degree level in Telangana state. He said that except in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,  all states across the nation including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have  already introduced Geography subject at Intermediate and Degree level decades ago.

Youth Congress state president Anil Kumar Yadav said that the Congress party would strive to make the state government to introduce  Geography subject at Intermediate and Degree level. He said that it was good for  the students not only preparing for competitive examinations but also common students  to be aware of the Geography of the state.

Congress leader and singer Dr Daruvu Ellanna alleged that several writers were not mentioning the role of students in the Telangana movement only to impress the TRS Chief and the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

Osmania University Assistant Professor Dr Mohammed Akthar Ali said that the book will help the students, who were preparing for TSPSC Group Examinations,  in  a great manner.  Dr Kethuri Venkatesh said that they will distribute more than   10,000 copies of the book free of cost  to the students.

TPCC spokesperson Indira Shoban, Congress leaders Vineeth, Dr Ngelli Venkatesh Goud, Medala Purushotham and students participated in the program. (NSS)
