North Korea executes its army chief

According to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, “Ri Yong Gil” army chief of staff has been executed by its young leader. If the reports are assumed to be correct then it would be probably the latest executions in this new leadership.

Reuters were also told by their familiar source with North Korea that they have executed their army chief.
Yonhap reports that Ri was executed this month under the reasons of corruption and factional conspiracy.

This news came in the midst of high tension surrounding North Korea after their long range rocket launch on Sunday.
Last year in the month of May, North Korea executed its defence chief by anti aircraft gun at firing range.
Since Kim Jong Un took power after death of his father 2011, North military leadership has been in a state of perpetual reshuffle.

He has changed his armed forces chief several times since then.
