Northwestern Karnataka remains tense, police imposed prohibitory orders

Northwestern Karnataka continues to remain tense following communal clashes on the day of Eid-Miladun-Nabi(PBUH). Karnataka police have sent additional platoons to maintain the law and order situation in Gokak, a town in Belagavi district.

According to Mail Today news the trouble started when a few miscreants pelted stones at the participants in the Eid-Milad processions at around 7 pm on Thursday, when a procession was passing through the Sangolli Rayanna junction.

The miscreants attacked the neighborhood residents. Seven buses, two police vehicles and scores of two- wheelers were damaged in the violence. Reacting to stone pelting the participant at the procession too pelted the stones. Few people were injured in the incident and in retaliation.

Three people, who were seriously injured, have been admitted to a local hospital. Police have imposed prohibitory orders in Gokak town for few days.
