Noted social activist, Bojja Tarakam passed away

Hyderabad: Senior Advocate and noted Social Activist who was popularly known as the voice of Dalit passed away last night at his residence in Ashok Nagar. He had struggled continuously against the atrocities on Dalits. He had taken Rohit Vemula’s suicide case to international level. He had launched a massive movement in 1991 against the killing of tribals and dalits and got justice for the effected persons. He was the president of Republican Party of India, Telangana Unit. He had provided legal assistance to Dalits, Minorities and Tribals at Magistrate, High Court and Supreme Court levels.

It may be noted that he had pleaded the case of Muslim reservations in 2004 during the time when Dr. YSR was the CM. He was the father of Collector of Hyderabad, Mr. Rahul Boja. He had organized Ambedkar Yojana Sangam in 1972 and had launched a massive movement fighting for the cause of Dalits.

Expressing his condolences, Mr. KCR, CM of Telangana State told that although he belonged to Andhra area, he fought for Telangana movement. In his statement, Mr. KCR told that Mr. Bojja Tarakam had devoted his life for the cause of Dalits and backward communities.
