Novel protest by TD MLA for SCS

TDP workers on Friday took out a novel protest demanding the Centre to accord the Special Category Status (SCS).

TDP MLA from Vijayawada (Central) B. Uma along with his supporters swept the roads in front of the BJP AP office in Suryaraopet and handed over rose flowers to the BJP activists and the leaders. The TD leaders covered their mouths with black ribbons during the protest.

Later, speaking to the media persons, Uma said that the AP Reorganisation Act provided for SCS for the state and the BJP during the 2014 election campaign had time and again promised to grant the SCS to AP but failed to do so. He said that the development of the state was not possible without SCS. He appealed the state BJP leadership to take up the matter with their Central leadership and pressurize them to accord special status to AP. He also warned of intensifying the protest if the Centre betrayed the state on the issue. (INN)
