Officials should offer timely advice and help to the farmers during Kharif season by sending their details to Grama Panchayats and revenue department, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has said.
At a review meeting on Kharif preparedness, Harish said that he will hold responsible the Chief Engineers if any lapses, delays and negligence found during the works of revival of irrigation canals. The works of canals under the projects this season should be taken up through a plan of action to ensure that the Monsoon season help the farmers. A state level call center will be opened up for the benefit of the farmers and the officials should coordinate with revenue wing for speedy disposal of the calls to provide timely help he said. The officials should make frequent field level visits to give information to the farmers on the need based crops he said. (NSS)
