Old city lacks banks, ATM facility, elected representative fail to address public grievances

Hyderabad: It may be considered the misfortune of old city residents that their elected representatives don’t have the power to open banks and ATM centres in the area. Not only the government but the banks also mete out step-motherly treatment towards old city.

A number of complaints have been received in this connection but fell on deaf ears. Due to currency crunch and demonetisation of Rs. 500 and 1000 notes, strong anger prevail among public and long queues are witnessed outside the banks and ATM centres. Many ATM centres remain close in old city areas and people are helpless about this. Nowhere in the twin cities can one find ATM centres shut down in such a large number as witnessed in old city. Amount was released through ATMs for a couple of days in the beginning but after that the ATMs remain shut.
