One Lakh Hands, a milestone initiative to support “Car Free Thursday” launched here in city at a function here on Sunday.
The launch function was attended by IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Joint Transport Commissioner B Venkateswarlu and other senior officials.
One Lakh Hands is an initiative which will further strengthen the Car Free Thursday initiative of HYSEA, being implemented currently in IT area Car Free Thursday is a first of its kind of initiative which took birth in city and then spread across country.
Under this initiative, 100,000(one lakh) school children (from class 4 – 10) will be involved in writing and sending letters hand written by them to 100,000(one lakh) employees and appealing them to adapt an alternative and public transportation least once a week. This initiative is expected to create a huge impact on behavioral change on a long-term basis. This will be a triangle communication between the child to the parent to employee and will have a direct outreach of 500,000 people and 10 times bigger outreach through various channels of media. As part of this, we are also introducing a school band, which will perform in IT companies informed Vishala Reddy, Founder Director of IdentCity, who conceptualized both “Car Free Thursday Campaign” and “One Lakh Hands” Invitiative.
“We have already got an approval from world famous singer and composer Mark Shepard to use his song “Together We Can Change The World” that fits into One Lakh Hand objective,” Vishala added.
One Lakh hands is a social innovation platform designed by IdentCITY being implemented with the support of the partners who include Transport Department of Telangana, Telangana State Pollution Control Board, Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association(HYSEA), SCSC, Ascendas, Excent IT solutions, Zify, Hyderabad 10 k run, HITEX, CII Young Indians and Firefox. Project associates include: Raastha Films, Solus Media, Memilog, Cisne for Arts, Gear Change, Blitz Events and Geo Meridian.
