Hyderabad: Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS is holding three posts, namely, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Competent Authority of Wakf Board and Vigilance Officer of Wakf Board.
If a complaint is made against the Competent Authority of Wakf Board, the case is referred to Secretary of Wakf Board. If the same complaint is made to Vigilance Officer, it is nullified by the Secretary who is holding all the three posts in Wakf Board. People are facing a lot of inconvenience since no complaint is being entertained by authorities.
Recently, an irregularity came to limelight. Mr. Omer Jaleel as the Chairman of Minorities Finance Corporation took a controversial decision and approved it as the Secretary of the Department of Minorities Welfare. If anyone wants to make an appeal against this decision to the Vigilance Officer, this post is also held by Mr. Omer Jaleel.
It is a bad precedent for administration to entrust three important responsibilities to a single officer who is also the Competent Authority and Vigilance Officer.
If this situation continues, irregularities would continue to be done and the implementation of welfare schemes for minorities would be disrupted.
