Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today called online tenders for providing health insurance to SERP employees and cancelled manual tenders called earlier.
After a review meeting with officials on Tuesday, the minister took a decision to prefer transparent online health insurance facility for 4,000 SERP employees. Stating that online health insurance would reduce the premium cost for the employees as open tenders will be finalized very soon, Jupalli asked the officials concerned to immediately cancel the manual tenders and replace the same with online tenders. Each employee was getting benefit of health insurance worth Rs 2 lakh so far and they will enjoy the same after finalizing the online health insurance services.
The employees paid Rs 1.07 crore towards their premium last year and the SERP will pay the remaining half component for health services. However, that manual tenders got cancelled enabling transparent services through online tenders. The online tenders will see the competition among the bidders which ultimately reduce the premium cost for each employee. The minister directed the SERP Executive Officer to issue a notification for online tenders by cancelling the manual one. (NSS)
