Opposition leaders’ vultures: KTR

Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao today lashed out at the opposition parties for giving a call for Telangana shutdown on Oct 10 for crop loan waiver at one go. He handed over cheques to the kin of deceased families on the occasion.

Talking to media persons at Medak during a Swatch Medak program along with Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, the minister belittled the opposition protest of state bandh on Saturday. ‘Is it for destroying the region during their regimes’, KTR asked. He expressed surprise at the BJP and the TDP going together for the protest instead of asking the Centre to provide financial assistance. The Opposition leaders are vultures and not kin of the farmers, he charged. Is Narendra Modi, Prime Minister to BJP led states in India or also to other states including Telangana, he asked.

Stating that crop insurance of the Centre is a big joke, he sought to know from the BJP Government why it cannot give a similar package to Telangana as it has done in case of Bihar.

The Congress and Telugu Desam ruled for long and only indulged in neglecting the region from developing it in agriculture, irrigation, welfare and other sectors, he alleged. The leaders who forced police to lathi charge the farmers for seeking power are now playing dramas, he said. The TRS Government has allotted Rs 17,000 crore towards the crop loan waiver and released half of it, KTR said. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao made it clear that they will clear the remaining Rs 8,500 crore and efforts are on. The Government has promised in writing to the banks to waive off the funds though the opposition is trying to malign our image, he charged. The misery piled up during 60 years of misrule cannot go in just 15 months or so, he maintained. The opposition should try to give confidence to the farmers against ending their lives, KTR suggested.(NSS)
