Osmania University would turn 100 years in 2018. The centenary celebrations of the 3rd oldest university of Southern India will be held in 2018 and the Osmania University administration is mulling to invite President Pranab Mukherjee or Prime Minister Narendra Modi for celebrations. The university would soon form a full-fledged committee comprising professors, principals of various colleges and deans to plan the event.

7th Nizam of Hyderabad Nawab Osman Ali Khan had founded the university in 1918. Named after its founder, OU was the first varsity to have Urdu as a medium of instruction.
