Azamgarh: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has been denied permission to hold any events in Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh tomorrow, due to the current state of communal tension in the nearing Mubarakpur city.
“The district administration is scared. I was in two districts today and there were absolutely no issues. But Mulayam Yadav is the MP from Azamgarh, so they are scared and there is pressure on the administration,” Owaisi told ANI.
A violent scuffle broke out at a snack stall yesterday in Mubarkpur after food was allegedly served on papers which quoted the Quran.
Following the scuffle, the city district administration took the decision to not let Owaisi enter the area.
In a bid to kickstart preparations for the 2017 assembly elections, Owaisi today began his two-day tour to five districts in the state, where he will visits districts like Balrampur, Sidharth Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar and Jaunpur.
However, party leaders have that said Owaisi would hold ‘indoor’ meetings with workers and will not address any public meetings.
The Akhilesh Yadav government had consistently denied permission all through last year to Owaisi who had submitted applications on several occasions. (ANI)
