New York, Sept 03 : Indian tennis ace Leander Paes started his US Open campaign on a winning note as he teamed up with Martina Hingis of Switzerland to reach the second round of the mixed doubles event on Thursday.
The fourth seeded Indo-Swiss duo overcame the local pair of Taylor Harry Fritz and C Lui 6-2, 6-2 in the opening round encounter that lasted just 46 minutes.
Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian team-mate Florin Mergea claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win over the US duo of Austin Krajicek and Nicholas Monroe to advance to the second round of the men’s doubles event. (ANI)
