Pakistan has been exposed in global arena: BJP

New Delhi, Aug. 23 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said Pakistan has been exposed in the global arena with its move to cancel the NSA-level talks.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said engaging with the Hurriyat and digressing from the main topic is what Pakistan chose as an excuse to run away from the talks.

“Probably it knew very well that it would be exposed to the world if it starts talking on terror. Today, this step of Pakistan has exposed Pakistan yet again in the global arena,” he added.

Patra further described Pakistan’s decision to call off the talks as extremely unfortunate.

“We have seen that what Pakistan was claiming that there were preconditions led by the Indian dispensation was absolutely wrong. It was demolished by the Minister of External Affairs Mrs. Sushma Swaraj yesterday where she rightly pointed out to the Pakistani dispensation that what you call as preconditions, in fact are agreements- Shimla Agreement where it has been agreed previously that there would be no third stakeholder in talks between India and Pakistan and second in the Ufa joint resolution, it was clearly mentioned that the talk would be on terror between India and Pakistan,” he added.

Pakistan called off the NSA-level talks with India late on Saturday night.

A statement issued by Pakistan Foreign Office said the proposed talks will not serve any purpose if conducted on the basis of what it called “preconditions” laid down by India. (ANI)
