Parents stage dharna as CBSE school hikes fee by 30%

Hyderabad: Scores of parents staged a protest outside the premises of Takshashila Public School in Lalaguda on Monday, against 30% hike in fee by the school management for the academic year 2017-18. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. While raising slogans, the parents sat on dharna demanding a reduction in the annual fee. The local police was forced to intervene to bring the situation under control.

According to parents, contrary to annual practice of raising fee about 10-15 percent, this year the management has increased the fee by almost 30 per cent.

Times of India reported that parents visited the school and sought clarification from the management over the arbitrary fee hike but failed to get any response. Subsequently they took to a protest.

Parents also objected to the addition of new components in the fee structure such as lab fee, computer fee, board exam fee, etc. According to one of the parents, textbooks in the new academic year are also being sold at much higher price than the market rate.
