Pathankot : Lt Colonel Niranjan E. Kumar succumbed to his injuries today and another National Security Guard (NSG) jawan has been injured in the combing operation that is currently underway at the Pathankot Air Force Base.
The NGS officer was gravely injured when he accidently set of an explosive device that was strapped to the body of a slain terrorist.
The injured jawan has been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, a loud explosion has been heard from the operation and reports are emerging of fresh gunfire from the Base.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe in the attack and has reportedly sought assistance from the Punjab Police and the Central Intelligence Bureau.
So far, the death toll of the martyred in the Pathankot Air Force Base attack has risen to seven.
A Garud commando and two Defence Security Corps (DSC) personnel succumbed to their injuries in the hospital last night. Eight DSC jawans and a Garud commando have been injured in the attack. (ANI)
