Patient in MP given medicine meant for animals

Raisen (Madhya Pradesh): There were angry scenes in a district hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district on Friday when it was found that a patient was being given medicine meant for animals.

The ruckus began when an attendant of Munney Bhai Painterwaley, admitted in the hospital’s men’s ward, suddenly noticed that the glucose being given to him through a drip carried a label reading “only for animals”.

The attendant literally jumped out of his chair on reading it. Soon, there was a commotion as other attendants joined him in castigating the hospital authorities.

Raisen’s sub-divisional magistrate Umrao Singh Maravi told IANS: “The matter is being investigated. This is true that the glucose being given to Munne Bhai was actually meant for animals.”

“A probe has been launched to ascertain how such a bottle arrived in the hospital and how it was being given to a patient. Action would be taken against anyone found guilty,” he added.
