Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today informed the State Assembly that it was decided to complete the Pattiseema Irrigation project at the earliest and utilize 15 to 20 TMC of water this year.

Stating that many canals were flowing between Polavaram and Krishna Delta, the Chief Minister said water would reach Punganur by January next. The Rayalaseema region would not face drought If water was made available in tanks and lakes, he said, adding that the region was facing scarcity of water as well as Krishna delta. He said the State government would fulfill all promises and asked the Opposition to give suggestions for development of the State.

The Chief Minister also made a statement in the Council on the issue of special status to the State. It was unfortunate to note that people were committing suicide in support of special status demand, he bemoaned. “There is no question of compromise on the issue and I would strive till we get special status to the State, Naidu said.
