Pellegrini insists Man City have improved under his charge

London: Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes that the Etihad Stadium club have improved under his leadership despite the fact that the side could still miss top-four Premier League finish.

City settled with a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in Pellegrini’s final home game in charge ahead of Pep Guardiola’s arrival.

With the draw, City are now just two point above the fifth-placed Manchester United, who hold a great chance to qualify for the next year’s Champions League with a game in hand over their rivals.

Pellegrini, however, remains adamant that City have improved a lot under him especially in Champions League, where they managed to reach the semi-finals for the first time in their history.

“In my time here we have improved a lot in the Champions League. Also, for me, it’s been about our style of play. There have been a lot of positive things but we must qualify again for the Champions League this season,” Pellegrini was quoted as saying by goal.com.

Reflecting on the match against Arsenal, Pellegrini said that his side deserved to win against Arsene Wenger’s side, insisting that his club displayed some of the best football in the first half of the match.

Pellegrini, however, called on his side to put their best foot forward in their final league match.

“Things are now out of our hands but we will find out on Tuesday. We must keep our heads clean and chins up and try to win our last game,” he added,

Pellegrini will play their final league match against Swansea City at Liberty Stadium on Sunday. (ANI)
