Persistent rain knocks Netherlands, Ireland out of World T20

Dharamsala: On a day which was completely hit by the incessant rain, minnows Netherlands and Ireland were knocked out of the World Twenty20 after their respective matches were washed out here at the HPCA Stadium on Friday.

The first match between Oman and Netherlands was washed out, without a ball being bowled, after persistent rain left large puddles on the field in Dharamsala.

Whereas, the rain-affected second match between Bangladesh and Ireland was abandoned after 8.4 overs with Bangladesh scoring 94-2 when the umpires finally decided to call off the match.

With Netherlands and Ireland now standing at the bottom of the Group A, Bangladesh and Oman will now face each other in a shootout in order to book a place in the Super 10. (ANI)
