Demanding removal of 5% transport tax and 14.5% Value Added Tax (VAT) of TDS type on all transport operations in the Telangana State, Telangana Petroleum Tank Trucks Owners Associations here on Tuesday warned that they would go on indefinite strike from May 30.

Talking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, Association president K. ajashekar Reddy said the 5% tax was introduced in 2011 by the previous united Andhra Pradesh government and the 14.5% tax was introduced by the Telangana Government in 2016. “We are neither producers nor the end users. We are just the suppliers and why we were brought under the 14.5% VAT? This must be borne by the Oil companies only”.

He also said the transport charges must be revised every day according to its change in international oil prices, instead of the ‘weighed average’ of current model. Every company in the State must follow a single rule, he demanded. Syed Arif-ul Hassan, general secretary and others of the association were present. (NSS)
