Place of worship gutted in fire; none hurt

Hyderabad: A place of worship of a minority community was gutted in fire in Telangana’s Nizamabad district, SP Chandrasekhar Reddy said today.

However, nobody was injured in the incident, he said.

The incident occurred on Friday night when prayers were being conducted in the small hut, Reddy said.

“The hut was erected on village Panchayat land at Gopanpalli two months ago. A group of people were praying when the hut started burning,” he said.

“They had sought permission to have a borewell but the village Panchayat did not give permission,” Reddy said.

On the complaint of a villager, a case under section 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance) of the IPC has been registered, the SP said, adding a probe is on.
