Plan to beautify Charminar to attract tourists: KTR

Municipal Administration and Urban Development K Tarakarama Rao today made a visit to Old City near Charminar and adjoining areas and interacted with the locals on their problems.

 Accompanied by GHMC Mayor Bonthu  Rammohan, GHMC Commissioner Dr B Janardhan Reddy and others, KTR made rounds of the area and sought to know about sanitation, facilities and needs of the people. The State government will complete in six months a pedestrian project near Charminar at an estimated cost of Rs 35 crore, he said.

The Urban Development Minister also pledged to make the historic Charminar into an enticing destination for tourists. Of course, the government has plans to embellish the vicinity of Charminar with greenery and add to its beauty. It is likely that parks, fountain and other attractions will come up at the Charminar and its adjoining areas to attract the tourists of domestic and foreign genre. A food court will be set up at Sardar Mahal in the area by shifting the GHMC office to elsewhere, KTR said. The TRS government was ready to spend more on providing better amenities to the people of the area, he said. (NSS)
